Oh Dear Pumpkin,

I know you’ve been sitting so patiently in that lazy susan, just waiting for a little attention.

Don’t you worry. Even though it’s been a while since we last met, it doesn’t mean that I have thought of you any less. But now, after long months of waiting, it is now time for us to reunite. Because if I wait any longer, I may go crazy and eat your whole can at once. And that would not be good. So let’s make a go for it…

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup vanilla almond milk
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 mashed banana
  • HEAPING 1/3 cup pumpkin
  • Golden raisins
  • Cinnamon & pumpkin pie spice

I think today may have to be the day that I finally stop at Starbucks to get my Pumpkin Spiced Latte…might as well keep the pumpkin trend going! Besides, it is Coffee Friday. 😉

Workout

This morning I was able to get about 45 minutes of a solid strength workout in, thanks again to Exercise TV. I’ve been loving their new category, “10lb Slimdown” with Chris Freytag, so today I did the Upper Body & Core workouts. I love them, not only because they’re a great workout, but also because I complete almost all the moves without having to modify for my foot. It’s mostly low impact on the lower body, or floor work, which is perfect for gimpy over here! 🙄

This afternoon I’m spending some time with my Mom, doing a little “Back to School” shopping…she offered to get me a new outfit for “back to school” – can’t beat that! 😀

Oh yes, and I almost forgot to share! Yesterday I got my hair cut & colored…what do ya think?

The “do” was a little faded out and dull from all the summer weather, so it needed a little updating. I wanted to add some red undertones this time, and Mom did an AWESOME job on it (she’s a hairdresser). Thanks, Mom! 😀

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Good News!  We won our softball game last night AND I made it back with all 10 fingers and all 10 toes. 😉  It was not a pretty sight, but they eventually all warmed back up and came back to their normal color soon after blasting the heat in my car!  Seriously mother nature, it’s May!  Where’s my spring weather?!?

I’ve been pretty chilly all morning, so I knew I needed something warm and comforting for breakfast.  Any guesses?!?

Today was my usual bowl of oats, but with a little more nutmeg than I normally add.  The verdict?  DELICIOUS! 😀  I think I’m going to get a little “heavy handed” with this stuff from now on.  It paired perfectly with my Maple Peanut Butter!

It was so hard getting out of bed this morning!  The room was dark, my bed was so warm and cozy, and I could hear the rain pitter-pattering outside on the roof.  Boy I’ll tell ya, there’s nothing like being able to just lay in bed in the morning and listening to the rain! 🙂

What are your favorite rainy day activities??

I like to lay in bed for as long as possible! Then I’ll get up and cuddle on the couch with a big blanket, my hubby, Cody, and a good movie.  If it’s cold enough, a mug of hot chocolate is the perfect addition 🙂

A Back on Track Morning

Gooooood Morning Everyone!  I don’t know about you, but after a weekend full of indulgent eats (cookies, belgian waffles, margaritas…) I was ready to get myself back on track this morning. I woke up bright and early for a date with my treadmill. 😉

I leafed through my stack of workout ideas that I pull from my magazines, and ended up deciding on this one:

This workout KICKED.MY.BUTT!  WOW…Later today, I’ll type out my inclines & speeds for ya’ll 🙂

After showering and getting ready, my tummy was rumblin’, and it was OATS on the menu today!

In today’s bowl:

-1/3 cup oats

-1/3 cup Silk Pure Vanilla Almond Milk

-1/3 cup H2O

-1 super ripe smashed banana (*which makes the best oatmeal!)

-Raisins

-Cinnamon & Nutmeg

I topped this bowl off with a sprinkle of granola and some of my Maple Peanut Butter.  YUMM! 😛

As I was getting ready this morning, I popped into the bathroom to find this lovely surprise!

Isn’t he sweet?!?  Jay knows I’m a total sucker for “surprise notes” and he certainly did a super job today!  Now I’m ready to conquer my Monday! 😀

My Very First OIAJ!

Just as a quick update, last night after BodyPump, I ended up coming home with a craving for cereal, so I finished off my box of Kashi Vive (a little less than a cup worth) with some almond milk (totally LOVING this stuff) & berries.  This stuff is SO YUMMY!  It totally hit the spot!

I also may or may not have had a few bites of leftover Margarita Cake. 😛

This morning was a very joyous occasion for breakfast…I had my first opportunity for OIAJ!!! (Oats in a Jar) 😀

My beloved Blizzard Butter was on it’s last leg, so it was time to fill ‘er up with some good ‘ol oatmeal 😉

In the oatmeal mix today was:

-1/3 cup oats

-1/3 cup Silk Pure Vanilla Almond Milk

-1/3 cup water

-1 small smashed banana

-Raisins

-Cinnamon & Nutmeg

It may not look pretty, but it sure tastes heavenly! 😛  The aroma of peanut butter in front of me right now is unbelievable…YUMM-O!

I’m off to the second day of my conference today…HAPPY FRIDAY! 😀

Feelin’ Anxious

“PRRRRRR…..PRRRRR”

Those were the first sounds of my morning, thanks to Cody coming to give me my wake up call!  I swear I heard, “Good Morning, Mom” 😉

He was having quite a fun time hangin’ out with Mom & Dad last night! 🙂

After my wake up call, it was time for a workout.  My legs and hips were pretty tight this morning, so I decided to pass on the running and do my favorite walking treadmill intervals.  I found this program probably over a year ago now, when it was posted on Tina’s blog.  I have been using it on and off ever since, and I love it!

While walkin’ my intervals, I was able to do a little reading of my new book I bought over the weekend.  Right now, things are pretty scientific and can be a little tough to follow.  I found my mind wandering quite a few times…like “what should I have for breakfast”? 🙂

Well I already knew that answer…Cinnamon Raisin Oatmeal!  This stuff was fannnnTAStic!

Today’s bowl:

– 1/3 cup oats

– 1/3 cup light vanilla soy milk

– 1/3 cup water

– 1 small sliced banana

– 2-3 tbsp raisins (regular and golden)

– lots ‘o cinnamon!

My oats were topped with a little granola and a scoop of Blizzard Butter. Scrumptious.

I’m planning a Starbucks trip later today, so I figured I’d start a little early with my snazzy Starbucks mug (a.k.a., my new favorite oats bowl, since my old favorite one broke and has yet to be replaced!)

Today is a BIG DAY for Jay and I, and I’m feeling a little bit anxious…I’ll fill you all in later today! 🙂
