My Favorite Workouts Giveaway

When it comes to my exercise routine, it’s no secret that I like to switch things up. If I were to stick with the same routine, week after week, I’d be absolutely bored out of my mind. Wouldn’t you?

So between the cardio & the occasional BodyPump classes at the gym, I also have another tried and true resource which is very near and dear to my heart:

Over the past few months, I’ve tested out some fantastic workouts that have really kicked my boo-tay! 😯 Whether it’s intense cardio, hardcore strength training, or relaxing yoga, they’ve got everything I need.

So as I’ve come to test out quite a few of these workouts, it’s safe to say that I’ve developed a few favorites. And wouldn’t you know…it looks like Christmas came a little early for me! :mrgreen:

A couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by the nice folks at Exercise TV, wondering if I’d be interested in doing a review of a couple of their full workout videos. They saw how much I’ve been loving some of the On Demand programs, and thought I might enjoy reviewing the whole video…

I seriously think they read my mind; I’ve been dying to try the full Yoga Meltdown video from Jillian Michael’s!!!

As soon as I got home yesterday afternoon, I immediately popped Jillian into my DVD player to test out the new goods. I realized that the video I’ve been doing on Demand has been the Level 1, which focuses on quickly flowing yoga sequences to burn more calories. It’s given me a great workout every time so far, but I wanted more, so I stepped it up to Level 2.

Level 2 incorporates a lot more twists and balance poses, some of which I found pretty difficult. Hello, crazy crow pose?!? 😯

After trying both Levels 1 & 2, I think it’s safe to say I like them both equally, and will probably switch back and forth between the two. They both definitely rock!

How I Beat Boredom On The Treadmill

Thanks to some tummy troubles, my appetite has been a little off today. 😳 I’m pretty sure I probably have my super-duper sugar intake as of late, plus the joys of being a lady to thank for today’s discomfort. Ahh well…life goes on!

I started things off with a little cereal combo: Quaker Oatmeal Squares + Fantastically Festive me & goji mix + skim milk.

Along with my cereal & mug-o-joe, I also brought a perfectly ripe banana, which I snacked on mid-morning.

By the time lunch rolled around, I really didn’t have too much of an appetite, yet I could feel my stomach grumbling…does anyone else ever get that feeling? It’s a weird one!

An always delicious pineapple flavored Chobani, topped with some Kashi Heart to Heart + granola

Carrot sticks, red peppers, & grape tomatoes…all of which are on their last leg. 😯

And an also-sad-looking pear which, despite it’s rather “homely” appearance, tasted quite fantastic.

By the time I got home from work, all I really wanted to do was curl up on the couch in a ball while watching TV. However, something was telling me that I should really try to get moving. I weighed the pros and cons of skipping the workout, and of course, the cons totally outweighed the pros…it was a simple case of me just being lazy. 🙄

So I threw on the workout clothes, grabbed my iPod, and hopped onto the treadmill. I wasn’t feelin’ any HIIT workouts today, so I decided to just go for a steady, 3-mile run.

Now, steady for me is never one set speed. No matter what, I just cannot run at one speed. Even if it’s just a matter of varying the speeds from 6.0 – 7.5, I still have to do it. Here’s an example, which is what I did today:

By alternating my speeds every 2 minutes, it gives me mini goals of something to work towards. For me, it makes the time go by much quicker! Maybe it will do the same for you?!? 🙂

I was definitely glad that I got up and moving, because it helped a little with the tummy troubles and eventually got my appetite nice and ready for dinner. On the menu tonight?

Turkey & Cheese Panini!

I first coated the bread slices with some Eggplant Garlic Spread, and then topped it off with deli turkey and some fontina cheese that I picked up at the grocery store this weekend.

I’d never bought fontina cheese before, but I can certainly say this will not be the last time! Fontina is absolutely perfect for melting on panini sandwiches…just look at that oozing cheese! 😛

Cookie Comas & Breakfast Dates

YAY for Sunday morning breakfast dates!! 😀

Before heading out though, a workout was in order; after last night’s indulgent snacks & massive cookie consumption, I woke up feeling rather sluggish. Ooof. 😳 I still have to go through all my photos from last night’s festivities, but I promise I will have a recap for you all later this afternoon. Here’s just a little sneak peek at what was right at my finger tips all night long…

Yes. It was incredible.

Thanks to the cookie-coma from what you see above, I ended up sleeping a bit later and missed my morning BodyPump class (BOO). So instead, I did a nice little hodge-podge of workouts from Exercise on Demand:

I felt a thousand times better afterward! And that Incredible Abs 5 video? That is no joke! 😯

So finally, we headed out to a local place that we had recently heard great reviews of, “The Eatery” at Carol’s Place.

I knew immediately I was in for a treat when the waitress told us their flavored coffee of the day:

It was pretty darn delicious! 😛

And then to make things even more amazing, we were presented with a plate of homemade cinnamon apple bread to snack on.

For breakfast, I ordered “The Skinny” omelet: spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, & onions (no cheese, & substituted Egg Beaters)

The omelet also came with home fries,

and a side of toast. I was really feelin’ the rye today…must have something to do with the rye bread dip that I made yesterday?? 😉

Quite a plate of food there, right? I was able to finish about 2/3 of the omelet, all of my toast, and maybe 1/4 of the home fries before throwing in the towel. I was pleasantly stuffed.

And thanks to our Entertainment Book coupon, our entire breakfast for the two of us only cost $11.28. Score! 😀

We followed up breakfast with a little more Christmas shopping and a trip to the grocery store. I’ll tell ya, grocery shopping is pretty easy when you can’t cook! 😉

Now I’ve got a little gift wrapping and photo editing to take care of while listening to some Christmas tunes. 🙂

Ready To Swap Some Cookies!

I’ve been tackling a “To-Do” list a mile long since about 8am this morning! 😯

I started out with a sweaty, 4-mile run on the treadmill. It felt fabulous!

Then I took care of a little cleaning around the house, which included our mini “makeshift kitchen” corner in the living room:

As of yesterday afternoon, I am officially without a stove. Hello, microwave. 😉

After cleaning, a trip to the Farmers Market was in order for some fresh baked bread,

so I could make this fantastic rye bread dip.

While I was out, I had to pick up a little caffeine to keep me going. 🙂

Now I’m working on getting ready to head to Heather’s house for a cookie swap! I’m so excited…I LOVE cookie swaps!

Part of going to the swap means bringing not only the cookies, but also the recipe…so I broke out my trusty laminator (one of my fun “teacher toys”)

Rockin’ Out & Wrapping Gifts

Wow, it’s been a while since I gave you guys a full recap on the day’s eats, hasn’t it? Boy oh boy, where does the time go??? 😯

Alright, well let’s get this post started!

First up: today’s yumm-o breakfast; nothin’ new, but certainly a favorite of mine!

I combined a container of vanilla Chobani with 1/2 a sliced banana + about 1/2 cup blueberries + a sprinkling of cinnamon.

It’s another case of “hairy berries!” 😉

Once I got to work, I mixed everything all together with some Kashi Heart to Heart cereal + a little granola.

I ❤ yogurt messes. 😀

Today’s coffee had to be enjoyed out of a regular mug, which I must say, I REALLY enjoyed! I don’t know, call me crazy, but it just felt so much “cozier” to enjoy my coffee at work out of a regular mug, rather than my travel mug?

Oh, and in case you’re wondering…coffee was enjoyed out of the travel mug because I happened to drive away yesterday morning with the full coffee mug still on the roof. 🙄 Needless to say, I think it may be busted. 😳

Lunch

I was totally rushing to leave the house for work today, but this spectacular reason was sooooo worth it:

I’ve really been lacking in the veggie department, and actually woke up craving a nice fresh veggie salad for lunch today. So I mixed up anything I could find in our veggie drawer: romaine, grape tomatoes, carrots, pickles, red peppers, and corn.

I drizzled my salad with a little salad crack Newman’s Own Light Balsamic.

and a little later, finished off the rest of my Popcorn Indiana Chip’Ins. Definitely gonna need to go get more of these babies…they’re fantastic!!

Workout

My original plan for today was to hit up the gym after work for a little BodyPump, but after analyzing my “To-Do” list, I realized I’d be better off to just head home and do a workout there. Thanks to my trusty Exercise on Demand, I sweated it out (sorta) with a little Yoga Meltdown with my gal pal Jillian. 😉 No idea why, but today’s workout seemed super intense?!? It’s ok…I love feelin’ the burrrrrrn. 😉

Dinner

A random mix of sorts, but I was on my own so I just went with the first thing that came to mind: chicken sausage!

Since we don’t have any rolls conducive to chicken sausages, I decided to slice up my link and place it on a whole Arnold’s Sandwich Thin.

I then topped the other half with a slice of provolone cheese, plopped ‘em back on the stove top, and let ‘em get toasty and melty. Yummmm. 😛

On the side, I roasted up some zucchinis with a little non-stick cooking spray, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, & oregano. They were actually a tid-bit spicy. 😯

Now I’m in the process of doing up some laundry, rockin’ out to Christmas tunes on Pandora, and wrapping up some Christmas presents. I’ve got a Blogger Holiday Gift Exchange gift to send out tomorrow……
