Fashion Friday: Fashionable Gifts Under $20.00

🙂 Happy Fashion Friday!! 🙂

On Today’s Agenda: Fabulous & Fashionable Gifts Under $20.00

‘Tis the Season to GIVE! I absolutely LOVE giving gifts. Seeing the look on someone’s face after you’ve thought long and hard for the perfect gift? Well there’s really just nothing else like it, is there?

However, as much as I’d like to go buck-wild and let my credit card smoke until its little magnetic strip desired, it’s just not in the cards this year.

But that doesn’t mean there aren’t still great gifts to be found out there! That’s why, for today’s Fashion Friday, I’ll share with you some great gifts for your favorite “Fashionista” – all under $20.00!

1. Victoria’s Secret Bejeweled Eyes Deluxe Palette, $19.00

Some really beautiful, FUN colors for a night out on the town!

2. Stylish Door Stop, $9.50 (from Gifts & Gadgets Online)

For when you’re sick of using the same old wooden block to hold the door open. 😉

3. Fingerless Knit Gloves with Jewels, $12.60 (from Kmart!)

Fingerless gloves are great for the Fashionista who loves to text or snap photos. 😉

4. Cable Knit Convertible Gloves, $19.50 (from American Eagle)

For the Fashionista who likes the ease of fingerless gloves, but may still need an extra cover up (such as me, who gets to battle with the lovely Reynaud’s Disease!)

5. Scarves

I’m a HUGE fan of scarves, both for keeping me warm and to add a little flair to bland outfit. Check out both of these that I found at Forever 21 – they’re a steal!

Scarf & Glove Combo, $7.50(!!!) Viscose Jacquard Scarf, $6.50

6. Leopard Print Mannequin Stand, $8.80 (from Forever 21)

Hey, every Fashionista should have somewhere to hang her jewels! 🙂

7. Jumbo White Watch with Oversized Numbers, $15.99

I’ve been on the lookout for an oversized white fashion watch and I think I may have just found a winner! Would you believe this is actually from Kmart??

8. Button Tab Slub Cardigan, $12.50 (from Forever 21)

This is one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. These cardigans are so versatile – they can be worn over pretty much anything and can be taken through all four seasons. And at $12.50, they’re worth getting in more than one color! 🙂

There really are SO MANY great gift ideas under $20.00 that are out there – it was so hard to choose just a few! Plus, online websites do a really great job of organizing their products into groups – so finding “Gifts Under $20” in a piece of cake!

Happy Shopping, all you savvy, bargain hunting readers you! 😉

Question for the Day:

What have been some of your favorite Fashionista gifts? (Either received or given)

Fashion Friday:

🙂 Happy Fashion Friday!! 🙂

All this week, I had been having trouble trying to decide what to post about for Fashion Friday. I had a couple ideas floating around in my head, some of which aren’t bad, so maybe I’ll save them for another time…

I’m saving them because I just came across a brand new fashion website that I just had to share with you all!

boutiques is a new fashion website, which is (believe it or not) brought to us by Google! You wouldn’t know it, since there is no sign of any Google logos are advertisements anywhere though; the site is big, bright, and very attractive to the eye…well, at least it is to my eye. 😉

While has an enormous selection of clothing, shoes, bags, and accessories, to browse, it also offers some other really cool stuff:

1. Create Your Boutique

In this area, you can go through 6 different steps to find and/or create your own personal style:

  • Take the “Stylizer” quiz
  • Choose your favorite designers, or
  • Browse your way through tons of styles, colors, and patterns for dresses, tops, bottoms, and shoes.

2. Celebrity Boutiques

Celebrity Boutiques show the favorites of celebrities that you may want to try to replicate.  And even better, there is quite an impressive lineup of both entertainment stars and celebrity bloggers listed:

Anna Paquin, April Bowlby, Ashely Olsen, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Ashley Benson, Carey Mulligan, Debi Mazar, Elisabeth Moss, Emma Roberts, Ginnifer Goodwin, Iman, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Jane Krakowski, Jenna Fischer, Jessica Lowndes, Katharine McPhee, Katrina Bowden, Kelly Osbourne, Kim Raver, Krysten Ritter, Lindsay Price, Maggie Q, Malin Akerman, Mary-Kate Olsen, Miranda Lambert, Olivia Palermo, Rashida Jones, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Shay Mitchell and Vivica A. Fox

One of MY favorites? Jamie Lynn Sigler

Her middle outfit actually almost kind of reminds me of my outfit last weekend???…

Maybe we could be twins?? 😉

In addition to celebrity styles, there’s also a huge list of designers to search by too!

To name a few:

Alice & Olivia, Andrew Marc, Anna Sui, Badgley Mischka, Mark & James, Catherine Malandrino, Christian Siriano, Cynthia Rowley, Cynthia Steffe, Derek Lam, Elise Overland, Erin Fetherston, Geren Ford, Grey Ant, Isaac Mizrahi, Kate Spade, Lulu Guinness, Marchesa, Oscar de la Renta, Rag and Bone, Rebecca Taylor, Tracy Reese, Betsey Johnson, Diane Von Furstenberg, Halston Heritage, Karen Millen, Nicole Miller, TemperleyTibi,Tory Burch, William Rast

3. MORE Boutiques!

In addition to the Celebrity & Designer Boutiques, there’s also a list of other boutiques to narrow your search:

  • Bloggers(!!)

  • Retailers (none of which are located anywhere remotely close to me…which is probably a good thing) 😉

  • Trend

  • Popular

  • Recent
  • Style Genre (romantic, edgy, classic, etc…)
  • “Featured”

With having so many great designers, many of the items are obviously going to carry a heavy price tag. HOWEVER, you are able to search by price range, which is nice…especially when you want to keep yourself from falling in love with that $1,000 pair of boots… 😯

Ohhh online shopping, you are going to get me into trouble!

You guys should definitely check this site out…Hey, some of us probably have some Christmas lists to make, right?? 😉

Question for the Day:

Which celebrity style would you say best emulates YOU?

Friday Motivations + A New Fashion Friday!

Happy Friday morning! 😀

Sorry for no follow-up post yesterday evening…that little thing called “life” happened, and I just didn’t have the time. Don’t worry, you didn’t miss much…it was a busy day with meals on the run!

So I don’t know what it is, but for some reason, I am so much more motivated to get up and work out on Monday and Friday mornings. Maybe it’s the fact that I know I don’t want to go to the gym in the afternoon on these days, but either way, I’m just glad the motivation is there!

This morning, I woke up bright eyed and bushy-tailed rolled out of bed (I said I was motivated…but I never said I’m good at waking up early! 😉 ) and got to work on a couple videos (one new, one old favorite) from Exercise on Demand:

New: Bootcamp Calorie Burn with Kendell Hogan (30 mins)

  • This video was pretty good. I think it would be suitable for most ability levels, and was actually not too difficult. I was looking for something more cardio based, with constant movement – this video definitely has you constantly moving, but doesn’t have too many intense moves. Not sure if I’ll try it again?

Old: 10lb Slimdown YOGA (24 mins)

  • Love the vinyasa flow with this workout!

Helloooo OIAJ!

I feel like it’s been forever since I last enjoyed some overnight oats, let alone OIAJ. But lucky for me, Jay just recently finished off his jar of PB and I was quick enough to make sure he saved it. Yummmmm.

In the jar:

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup vanilla almond milk
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 mashed banana
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin
  • raisins
  • cinnamon & pumpkin pie spice
  • lots of leftover peanut buttery goodness 😉

Of course, no oats would be complete without a little topping! Enter: granola. 😛

I don’t have my mug-o-coffee yet, since it’s Coffee Friday, but I’m pretty sure I’m craving some hazelnut today…we’ll see. Hey, maybe that’s some of my motivation for getting up and moving on Friday mornings?? 🙂

Check out this fun surprise I found yesterday!

Charlie from Sweet Salty Spicy was “sweet” enough to pass along the “One Lovely Blog Award” to me. Thanks so much, Charlie!!

Aaaaand, I actually have a little “Fashion Friday” for you all a little early this morning!

I decided to switch things up a bit from the recent Fashion Fridays, and give you all a little sneak peak today’s outfit, “Before & After” style:

This outfit is obviously lacking something. The shirt (which is NEW from my latest Old Navy purchase!) is just too baggy and does nothing for the figure. And when it comes to skinny leg jeans? Well, not only do the stylish black socks do nothing, but they could definitely be “kicked up a notch,” right?

Look at what a little accessorizing can do! Nipping in at the waist with a simple belt does a world of difference for this shirt! When I first tried it on in the dressing room, I thought it was awful. Luckily, I had a belt in the room with me, and as soon as I put in on…complete transformation!

How ‘bout those boots?? They’re vintage!

And even better yet, they used to be my Mom’s! She gave them to me a couple years ago, saying that they were some of her favorite pairs when she was younger. I don’t get an opportunity to wear them too often, but I thought they’d go great with today’s attire. 🙂

Alrighty folks, I’m out…time to go get the coffee!!

Questions for the Day:

What are YOU wearing today that you love?

What motivates you to get up in the morning?

Fashion Friday: Dark Nails

🙂 Happy Fashion Friday!! 🙂

On Today’s Agenda…

It’s All About Black/Dark Nails!

Seems perfectly fitting for Halloween, right?

Well, just in case you’re not quite ready to break out the Jet Black polish, there are some great options out there for you to choose from. Many of you noticed my fresh paint job this week, which, while it may look like black…it’s not! 😉

(Please pay no attention to the middle finger nail, which I nicely chipped yesterday afternoon…of course!) 😡

This polish is one of my favorite polishes I own: O.P.I Lincoln Park After Dark. Its hint of plum keeps the super deep hue from looking to “goth,” but still gives a fun, edgy look. O.P.I. is my absolute favorite brand of polish. It lasts the longest of any other brand I own and goes on with a nice, smooth finish.

**One important rule that I go by when using dark polish: Keep the nails short. Otherwise, I feel like it looks a little too much like the fake nails I’d add to my witch costumes when I was younger. And that’s a definitely no-no for everyday style! 😯

I’ve actually had this polish for about two years now, so I had to laugh when I saw it in at least two different magazines this season about being the “in” color. I guess maybe I was ahead of the trend???? Hehe 😉

Question for the Day:

What do you think of Black/Dark Nails? Do you have a favorite polish color?

Fashion Friday: Leopard Prints

🙂 Happy Fashion Friday!! 🙂

Yesterday evening, while browsing through some old magazines, I came across a section of Fall Fashion Trends that quickly caught my attention.

Some of them were pretty typical, but one immediately made me think of Fashion Friday, and had me wondering what everyone else’s opinion on the trend is.

Ok, so what’s the trend??……

As with all trends, there’s definitely a way to make it work, and always a way to overdo it. Leopard print clothes do have a strong look that not all us women may feel comfortable in.

  • The key to wearing these bold patterns is to keep the rest of the outfit simple. Although full head to toe leopard may work for the runway, in real life…it can look a little overdone.

  • Select a single piece of leopard print clothing to be the focus of your outfit. A soft, silky leopard skin blouse worn with a pair of the new wide legged pants in black with a sleek black belt and black suede heels is a look that can be worn anywhere: from the office to a dinner out on the town.

  • For a more dramatic statement, a leopard print jacket in faux fur could be an option. Pair it with jeans or slim black pants, along with a pair of black ankle boots and you’re set to go!

Check out Kate Moss’s great style!

  • Still not quite sure you’re ready to sport the leopard print in your clothes? No worries! Designers offer a variety of leopard print footwear and accessories such as bold handbags and wallets. You’ll still get to embrace the leopard trend, but with just a touch of the exotic feel.

  • Or, I suppose if you’re still not quite ready to sport the look, you could go ahead and incorporate it elsewhere… 😯

  • OR, maybe your little pooch will be willing to take on the look! 😉

I don’t think Cody’s quite ready for this! 😉

Alright my friends! So now, let’s see what you all think?

Question for the Day:

What’s your take on Leopard Print??
