Thanksgiving Dinner Melts, Elf, & Christmas Decorating

Whew! It has been a busy day of decorating over here in this house! 😯

Of course, before getting started I had to pop Elf into the DVD player…it’s my favorite movie to decorate to!

Before getting the tree started, I put out some of our other decorations. Unfortunately, I’m not going to be able to use them all, since I’ve lost a good amount of decorating space with the kitchen demo…but I made sure to put out my faves. 🙂

I bought this post with the kitty on it last year at a craft fair because it reminded me so much of Cody. 🙂 And I actually picked up the snowman today while out running errands…isn’t he cute??

It was almost time to start the tree, but FIRST…my absolute favorite Thanksgiving leftovers meal was ready to be had:

My “Thanksgiving Dinner Melt”

Oh yes my friends! That is a monster of a grilled sandwich, complete with:

  • Leftover turkey
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Leftover “special stuffing
  • Provolone cheese

I look forward to this sandwich every year…probably just as much as the original meal itself. It’s soooo good. Hubby tried one too and he was quite impressed! 🙂

After getting some fuel in the belly, it was time to tackle the tree!

And of course somebody else had to get in on the action…

Wherrrrre’s Cody?!?”

I love going through and looking at all of our ornaments. Some are just plain silly…

But so many carry such great memories!

Such as this ornament that dates way back to when my grandmother was younger…

And this one from our honeymoon last year. Well, actually this year. Wow, this is actually going to be our first Christmas as hubby & wife…how fun!

Finally, after 2 rounds of watching Elf…the tree was complete!

You like?? 🙂

Now that the tree is finished, time to do a little more clean up, then this gal is headed to bed. Gotta get up bright and early to work on some more kitchen stuff!

Goodnight Everyone! 🙂

Goodbye Fall…Hello Christmas

Has everyone made their way out of their food comas from yesterday?? 😉

Well, it’s about that time again…

As much as I absolutely adore everything about fall and my fall decorations, it’s time to pack it away. I think Cody’s going to miss all of his window decorations toys. 😉

Hey! What are you doin’ with all my fun toys I play with every day Mom?”

Growing up, it was always tradition to use the day after Thanksgiving as the day to begin decorating for Christmas; tree up and all! So even though I’ve been out of my parents’ house for two years now, I still keep the tradition going in my own house. 🙂

Before getting started, however, a delicious breakfast was in order.

I figured it was only fitting to incorporate the “fall background” one more time before it’s all packed up. 😉

A plain Chobani mixed with a scoop of homemade pumpkin butter + a scoop of pumpkin cream cheese + 1/2 sliced banana + granola.

Yummmmm. 😛

Along with some caffeine…of course!

Now all of my fall favorites are all packed up…

And it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! 😀

We’ll see how much progress I make today!

Question for the Day:

How are you spending your Black Friday? Did you brave the crowds??? 😉

So This Is What Early Monday Mornings Feel Like?

Ahhh, Monday morning…I did not miss you these past 2-1/2 months! 😉

Good Morning!! Is everyone feeling nice and well rested from their weekend? Probably not…but we can pretend, right??

Believe it or not, I was actually able to get myself up and moving bright and early this morning for a workout. I blame it on the guilt from overindulging on football party food. 😉 But hey, whatever the motivation, at least I got it done! I completed two workouts from Exercise on Demand – one old, one new. I started off with a new one: 10lb. Slimdown Body Blast and finished off with an oldie but a goodie: 10lb. Slimdown CORE. I find myself going back to this series quite a bit. I really like the trainer, Chris Freyteg; she’s quite motivating without being too cheesy like some other videos. 🙂 Overall, it was a great way to start my morning!

I’m running a little behind schedule this morning (surprise) so my original bowl of oatmeal will have to wait until tomorrow. So for now, I’m toasting up one of these, topping it with some of that…

…and enjoying a bananer along with it.

And of course, you can’t forget about my mug of Almond Amaretto coffee. Yummm.

Hey, check out the fun gifts that were waiting for us when we got home last night…Yankee Candles! And better yet, FALL SCENTED Yankee Candles. Jay’s mom said that she was out shopping in Old Sturbridge Village over the weekend, dropped by the Yankee Candle store, and saw that everything was buy one, get one free. I can’t wait to try these out. Thanks so much for thinking of us Rosemary! 😀

I have some “Ask Me Anything” answers comin’ up for ya this afternoon, so make sure you check back later.

AND, in case you missed it, the long-awaited Pumpkin Spice Cupcake recipe was posted over the weekend; but not on this blog…it was over on Carrots ‘N’ Cake! Make sure you give that one a peek too. 😉

Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes with Honey Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting

Question for the Morning:

Which would you choose: Apple picking or pumpkin carving? 🙂

A Slight Obsession With Fall Decor

I’m tellin’ you guys – I get an A+ for productivity today! I have been non-stop since 7am this morning and I don’t know what I’m more excited about: the fact that I’ve gotten so much accomplished, or that I’ve actually had the energy to accomplish it all. 😉

**On a quick side note…

For those of you who have been waiting very patiently for my Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes recipe…you can wait no longer!! I had to keep holding out on you guys because my recipe is actually featured as a guest post over on Carrots ‘N’ Cake today! Tina was kind enough to contact me last week to see if I’d be interested, so of course I said YES! Make sure you go check it out: Thanks again, Tina! 🙂

Rather than stopping for a full, sit-down breakfast, I pretty much ate on the go this morning.

A pineapple flavored Chobani with 1/2 a sliced banana. Oh my god, why do I not get this flavor more often?? It’s amazing!

I also had at least 3-4 handfuls of Quaker Oatmeal Squares throughout the morning. You know how it is…leave the box open on the counter, grab a few every time you walk by. 😉

Ahhh, “A Clean House is a Happy House!”

So even though I have plenty left to do, I’m pretty happy with I have behind me. So far, I’ve:

  • Vacuumed
  • Dusted (blech!)
  • Swept the kitchen floor
  • Mopped the kitchen floor
  • Washed a sink full of dishes
  • Cleaned the stove top
  • Cleared all the junk stuff off the kitchen table (aka, our “catch-all” spot in the house)
  • Started decorating for FALL!!!…

Yes; a trip earlier to Wal-Mart to pick up a $4.00 photo order turned into a little fall decorating trip. Obsessed with fall much? Yes.

I bought these pumpkin & leave fillers for $6.00…totally worth it since I already had the bowl.

And this charger was only $3.00! I already had the candle holder/wax melter, and I used the remaining decorations that wouldn’t fit in the bowl above.

Yummmm! Old & New – I adore Yankee Candle 🙂

Pumpkins! Found these at the Christmas Tree Shop for $2.99 each last week. I was sold!

Pretty fall placemats – I got these last year from one of my bridal showers. I think they’re just so cute!

So I had to make sure to use ‘em for lunch. 😉

I told you I’d find a way to use my leftover fajita veggies! Mixed with a spring mix base and a little corn off the cob. So good, it didn’t even need dressing.

And the last of my whole wheat bread from The Fresh Market. Looks like it’s time to go get some more. 🙂

But until then, it’s time to get back to some housework and schoolwork…and maybe try to dig out the rest of my fall decorations from storage. Ahhhh, how I LOVE FALL! Hope you’re all having a great day!!

Question for the Afternoon:

Do you have a favorite scented candle?
