Breaking Up The Work

Spending four hours of my Sunday doing all of the grading the I procrastinated doing during the week = total bummer. Ughh. 😳 One of these days I’ll learn!

At least I was able to break up the work with some football & a couple trick-or-treaters. And I must say, I was quite proud of the fact that I only stole one piece of candy from the candy bowl! 😯

Then a little while later, I figured hey, a little wine never hurts either…

Oh yeah, and dinner’s a pretty good way to break up the work too. 😉

Jay and I decided a quick and simple dinner was in order, so we cooked up the package of ravioli that I got last weekend at Trader Joe’s.

I topped my ravioli off with some sautéed onions and broccoli (which were generously coated in some Garlic Gold seasoning), marinara sauce, and some fat-free Mediterranean feta crumbles.

To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of the ravioli. 😦 I didn’t really love the flavor of them…must have been the mushrooms? Luckily, I had cooked up a boat-load of broccoli, so I didn’t feel deprived.

But even though I wasn’t huge fan of the ravioli, here’s a couple things I am a fan of:

Watching Cody fall asleep in the funniest positions EVER.

AND, the fact that I have this huge bowl of candy sitting in my house…

with no more trick-or-treaters in sight.

Yeah…hubby was nervous we wouldn’t have enough candy after the 4th trick-or-treater came, so he went out to get some more.

That was about 2 hours ago, and we haven’t seen one since. Looks like it’s gonna be time to get creative in the kitchen!! 😉

Question for the Evening:

What do you do with your leftover Halloween candy?

Want To Meet My New Nephew??

Happy Halloween! Are you being festive today??? I may not be in costume, but I’m definitely sportin’ my favorite Halloween socks! 😉

We’ve also got our mini bowl of Halloween candy ready for the one or two potential trick-or-treaters we might get. (Our house gets few, if any!)

I’m hoping the weather clears up soon though…

…otherwise I’m gonna be left with lots of leftovers! 😯 😉

So I have some exciting news to share!!! I am an AUNT!

Let me now introduce you all to my new “nephew”…

Meet Tram!! 😀

I’m sure I just made anyone who knows that I have a younger brother a little nervous & curious, didn’t I?? 😉

Isn’t he adorable?? Last night, Jay and I headed over to Sarah & Jeff’s house to meet the new addition to their family. Tram is a Morkie (Yorkie + Maltese) and is the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen. I might steal him…watch out Sarah! 😉

So we didn’t ONLY go over to meet little Tram, but also to celebrate Sarah’s birthday, which included one of my favorites: Funfetti Cake!

I enjoyed every.last.bite. in the healthiest way possible, of course. It’s been a while since I’ve had Funfetti + Rainbow Chip frosting. Yummmm. 😛

While eating our cake, the boys had a little more fun with Tram…

IMG_6010Love him!!!

This morning, I got up bright and early to head to the gym, where I spent 45 minutes on the treadmill doing some interval running. I ended up covering just shy of 4.5 miles in 45 minutes, which also included a bit of power walking on a heavy incline. It was a good, sweaty workout.

After showering and getting ready, I went to meet my friend Heather for a Starbucks date! Believe it or not, I haven’t seen Heather since before I went to Vegas in August!

While we sat and chatted, I enjoyed a delicious Pumpkin Spice Latte,

IMG_6014along with a banana (which I forgot to photograph until AFTER I ate it) and a slice of Cranberry Apple Bread that I brought from home. 🙂

I had some grocery shopping to take care of after our Starbucks date, so by the time I got home, I was already starving again. I quickly grabbed a plain Chobani and mixed in about 2 tsp of sugar-free vanilla pudding mix. Julie was absolutely right…what a delicious idea! 🙂

I also brewed up a little coffee, at the hubby’s request. Hey, what’s a little more caffeine, right? 😉

The rest of the day looks like some school work, football, and waiting for trick-or-treaters (hopefully!).

Question for the Day:

Do you like Halloween? Do you like passing out candy for trick-or-treaters??

Awesome Friday Workout, Donuts, & Indian Food

I don’t think I can remember the last Saturday morning I was able to spend sleeping in without an alarm and lounging around in my PJ’s. I am LOVING today! 🙂 So far it’s been spent doing both of the above, enjoying some delicious coffee,

(I love the reflection of the leaves) 😉

and a little baking. It smells Aaaaa-MAZING in this house right now!

So I totally let yesterday’s blogging slip away from me. Before I knew it, it was 9pm and I was absolutely exhausted. BUT, let me fill you in on some of the highlights from my day…

I got my Friday started out on the right foot with a great workout from Exercise on Demand. I was actually horrified to find out that my recent go-to video, “Rock Hard Total Body Workout” was taken OFF! OH NO?!? 😯 So I quickly scanned through the other videos and was lucky enough to find a winner: Jackie Warner’s Power Circuit. It doesn’t incorporate a whole lot of cardio, but it works each of the major muscle groups individually by doing 3 sets of moves, followed by a “powerburn.” Judging by the absolute, total body soreness I’m feeling today, I’d say it’s definitely worth doing again!

Breakfast was a delicious, healthy treat! A vanilla flavored Chobani, mixed with some pumpkin butter, 1/2 a sliced banana, and 1/2 cup Quaker Oatmeal Squares.

Thennnn, things took a turn…

That darn Dunkin’ Donuts!

Being Coffee Friday, I went to get my usual treat of Pumpkin Spice coffee, but since I was going to be specific with my order, I decided to go into the store (going through the drive-through with a specific order is asking for trouble…). Well wouldn’t you know, immediately upon walking in, I spotted Pumpkin Munchkins! 😯 How am I supposed to turn a pumpkin munchkin down??

I’m not. 😉 So I bought 5 (because that’s the only way they’d sell them to me??) – 3 pumpkin & 2 blueberry cake. I enjoyed 2 pumpkin and 1 blueberry, and kindly gave the other 2 away. It’s a good thing I did, since the second half of my day brought me face to face with this:

Yes my friends, that is a delicious, warm, fresh out of the oven cider donut. It was phenomenal, and I wished I had bought a 1/2 dozen, rather than just one. Actually, I don’t. I would have eaten all 6 of them yesterday…and that would not have been good. Either way, it’s pretty obvious I was having a super healthy day. 😉

The reason I was able to enjoy a yummy mid-day cider donut was because my class had a field trip to a local farm/corn maze!

What you see there is a “Right Hand Only Maze” where you could only take right-hand turns to get out. Aaaaand guess who completed it without cheating?? That’s right, THIS GIRL! 😀 I was so proud.

After a long day at the corn maze & pumpkin patch, I was able to wind down with a delicious Indian Buffet Dinner Date with Jen!

I really don’t know what any of this stuff is that I took…but I do know what most of it was pretty darn delicious and I had probably about 3/4 of what you see here.

Plus 2 pieces of naan, which I’ve concluded that I could most definitely eat every day of my life. It’s so good.

Uhhh ohhh, I think I hear the timer on my oven going off…time to go check out my goodies!! Gotta run!

Hope you’re having a great Saturday! 🙂

Fashion Friday: Dark Nails

🙂 Happy Fashion Friday!! 🙂

On Today’s Agenda…

It’s All About Black/Dark Nails!

Seems perfectly fitting for Halloween, right?

Well, just in case you’re not quite ready to break out the Jet Black polish, there are some great options out there for you to choose from. Many of you noticed my fresh paint job this week, which, while it may look like black…it’s not! 😉

(Please pay no attention to the middle finger nail, which I nicely chipped yesterday afternoon…of course!) 😡

This polish is one of my favorite polishes I own: O.P.I Lincoln Park After Dark. Its hint of plum keeps the super deep hue from looking to “goth,” but still gives a fun, edgy look. O.P.I. is my absolute favorite brand of polish. It lasts the longest of any other brand I own and goes on with a nice, smooth finish.

**One important rule that I go by when using dark polish: Keep the nails short. Otherwise, I feel like it looks a little too much like the fake nails I’d add to my witch costumes when I was younger. And that’s a definitely no-no for everyday style! 😯

I’ve actually had this polish for about two years now, so I had to laugh when I saw it in at least two different magazines this season about being the “in” color. I guess maybe I was ahead of the trend???? Hehe 😉

Question for the Day:

What do you think of Black/Dark Nails? Do you have a favorite polish color?

Goodies For The Sick One

I’m feeling rather lazy this evening…anyone else with me??

I’m gonna try to make tonight’s post a quick one, since I still have some dishes to wash, some laundry to do, and a sick hubby to take care of. Yes, poor hubby has come down with a crappy cold. He’s trying to blame it on me, but I told him no way. 😉

After work today, I decided it felt like more of a “mall day” rather than a “gym day.” So I actually skipped the gym, was totally ok with it, and did a little damage at the mall. I had an Old Navy coupon that expired today…couldn’t let that go to waste! While I was at the mall, I also picked up a little bag-o-goodies for “the sick one” to try to cheer him up.

I think it helped. 🙂 (Hopefully he’ll share with me…most of his favorites are my favorites too!) 😯

Today’s breakfast probably looks similar to Tuesday’s:

2 slices of cinnamon swirl bread, topped with some White Chocolate Wonderful PB, pumpkin butter, & banana slices.

Forgive me for the lack of variety, but so far I’m the only one tackling this loaf of Trader Joe’s cinnamon raisin swirl bread, and that just cannot go to waste!

I also enjoyed some Pumpkin Spice coffee…x2. 😉

Leftover soup is the best!

To go along with my leftover Minestrone Soup, I had an amazingly yummy, cheese-filed wrap. I simply spread one wedge of The Laughing Cow Light Mozzarella Sun-Dried Tomato & Basil cheese inside of a Tomato Basil LaTortilla Factory wrap. Then, since I apparently was feelin’ a little “cheesy,” I added another thin slice of some reduced-fat provolone. Total yum. 😛

Can’t forget about the delish “golden delish” apple! 😉

Immediately upon entering the mall this afternoon, I passed by a Starbucks, and thoughts of Pumpkin Spice Lattes started dancing around like sugarplums in my head. Getting one was absolutely necessary.

So I sipped it while browsing around through Kirklands. They were having some awesome sales…I think I may need to head back this weekend! 😯

Suuuuuuper lazy tonight…

I attempted to make some turkey + provolone rolls, however, the turkey that we have (while totally delicious) is not exactly of “rolling quality.”

So they ended up being a little more like “stacks,” which I also filled with a little honey mustard.

I ended up using a lot more turkey than I really needed…bad gauge on that one! I probably ate about 3/4 of the turkey on the plate…but I did eat ALL of this guy!

Call me crazy, but does this sweet tater not look a little like a pumpkin???

Just like last night, I topped it with a little butter, cinnamon, & pumpkin butter. It was just as good the second time around. 🙂

And now, I definitely foresee some pumpkin chip cookies on my radar!

Question for the Evening:

What makes you feel better when you’re sick?
